3 things I’d NEVER overspend on now that I’m a

3 things I’d NEVER overspend on now that I’m a wedding coordinator (and what I’d spend that money on instead 👀)

1. Elaborate charcuterie displays

We were quoted over $4,000 for around 100 guests. I DIY’d ours for about $600, and people were STILL talking about it afterward.

✨I’d rather put that money toward an amazing meal and guest experience.

2. Expensive floral arrangements

I did my own bridal bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres, larger arrangements AND 40 table bud vases for around $500.

✨I’d rather prioritize photography that captures the entire day beautifully.

3. Custom wedding signage

I designed our welcome signs, seating chart, timelines and smaller signs in Canva, then printed and framed them myself.

✨I’d rather spend on the people and logistics that make the wedding actually RUN smoothly.

And listen, I’m NOT saying these things aren’t worth paying for. Your priorities might be completely different!

But after planning my own $10K wedding AND coordinating weddings for other couples, I believe this even more:

A beautiful wedding isn’t about spending the most. It’s about knowing what’s worth spending ON.

Most weddings feel expensive because nothing gets

Most weddings feel expensive
because nothing gets questioned.

So here’s the quick version of what I learned:

- invite who you actually want there
- stop decorating everything
- one or two things matter… not ten
- most decor won’t even be remembered
- spend on experience… not aesthetics
- food matters more than florals
- music > everything else
- you don’t need traditions you don’t believe in
- your wedding isn’t your mom’s wedding
- social media isn’t your blueprint
- if they gossip… they don’t belong there

Don’t just keep adding
because it all feels important
